Bat day 2016

20th May 2016
Thank you to Helen and Lesley who have joined us today. Greater horseshoe bats have declined over by over 90% in recent decades. The 'Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project' is helping to helping to secure the future of the GHB. The project is a partnership project of 19 organisations led by Devon Wildlife Trust. It is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. We are pleased to have been awarded with a 'bronze bat buddy school award'.
Today, we have taken part in many bat inspired activities including bat maths, bat games, bat research and bat science.
In Class 1, we had lots of fun making bat masks and bat collages, researching the Internet for information about bats, as well as going on a bug hunt. We learnt lots about the Greater Horseshoe bat, and what we can do to help their numbers increase. We have sown seeds in our own wildflower garden this week, which will hopefully increase the number of bugs around the school.
